Dear Modernite

All of us have a common bond being old students of a premier institution-the Modern School.

The Modern School Old Students Association is the largest and most active old students association, carrying out various activities and tasks since the 50s, to facilitate interaction amongst Modernites and to keep the spirit of the Association alive. These activities not only foster old associations but also keep alive the bond with the school.

Cultural activities of the association include Modernites Annual Dinner, Sports Day, Modernite Annual play, Senior Modernite Dinner, the annual ball and the inter school annual debate. The association also publishes a newsletter which is issued twice a year under the heading of "SANDESH". I am sure that you will remember Sandesh as the school magazine. The association has also started lecture series for the benefit of the students where prominent modernites are requested to address the students. Few lectures have already taken place, which includes lectures by Mr. Rajat Gupta, CEO MacKinsey & Co, Mr. Arun Shourie, Hon'ble Minister and Dr. Naresh Trehan.

It has been the endeavour of the association to carry out charitable and other activities in the form of scholarships to needy students and other social oriented projects. The Modernite Trust have provided scholarships to 40 needy students for free education in Modern School over the last 15 years. The association will shortly release its Millenium directory for which I am sure that you must have received a request of your current contact details from one of our Executive Members.

The Association has started and implemented the scheme of Gurudakshina where teachers who have contributed their lives towards education in Modern School are presented Gurudakshina by the association as a token of love and affection of the students towards their teachers. The association has presented gurudakshina to eight teachers over the last few years.

The association recently completed the task of restoration of the old Gym at the Modern School, Barakhamba Road which has now been named M.N. Kapoor Hall. The Hall was inaugurated by Mrs Kapoor in July 2000. The association now proposes to take up similar projects including the restoration and expansion of old science laboratories and other such facilities for the school particularly in the old buildings which are over 65 years old.

We solicit your help and cooperation through contributions in the name of MSOSA. Any contribution so made is exempted under Section 80-G of the Income Tax Act in India.

I am sure that old students of Modern School who have risen to positions of eminence and are based all over the world would generously contribute towards the association for the betterment of the facilities in the alma-mater.

I, on behalf of the Association seek your assistance in the form of whatever contribution you can make which we will accept gratefully and utilize for the facilities in the school and promotion of activities of the association.

Thanking You,
Yours sincerely
Lt Gen Shankar Prasad
President MSOSA
